Well over 100 gardening enthusiasts attended the 2011 Spring Gardening Workshop in Branson, MO
The Master Gardeners of the Ozarks hosted their annual Spring Gardening Workshop on March 19, 2011 in Branson, Missouri at the Faith Lutheran Church. The annual gardening workshop series (one is held in the spring and another in the fall) is an ongoing community project organized and sponsored by the Stone and Taney county Master Gardener group under the supervision of the University of Missouri Extension.
This year's workshop was deemed an unqualified success with well over 100 in attendance to hear speakers on a variety of topics, including "Pines Suitable for Southwest Missouri", "2011 Plants of Merit", "Invasive Plants of the Ozarks", "Hosta Specifics" and "Practical Home Vegetable Gardening."
Speakers included Robert Lovett of the Pinetum in Springfield, MO, Chris Nejelski of the Missouri Botanical Garden Plants of Merit program in St. Louis, Lina Ellis, a Horticultural and Natural Science Illustrator from Galena, MO, Lee Coates of Peggy's Flowers Wholesale Nursery and Sarah Becker, Horticulture Specialist with Linclon University, Southwest Center, Mt.
