Covid-19 Restrictions

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the lastest surge in cases from the Delta variant, conditions and policies at our public events are subject to change, as we try to follow the latest recommendations and/or restrictions published by the University of Missouri Extension, the State of Missouri and any local directives. Call the Extension Office for more information if you have any questions about current policies in force.

122 Felkins
Forsyth, MO

A demonstration garden was established in 2011 on site at the University of Missouri Taney County Extension Office. The gardens give residents a place to learn about plants that do well in our area, as well as to see gardening techniques and methods.

The gardens include a Rain Garden, Butterfly Garden, Herb Garden, Keyhole Garden, Shade Garden, Composting Areas and Native Beds including grasses, shrubs and trees..

Master Gardener Volunteers work the second and fourth Thursdays of each month to maintain and expand the current gardens.

The Demonstration Garden hosts various programs for the public free of charge. The Brown Bag Lunch Garden Series was started in 2013 with a lunchtime speaker on the first Tuesday of the month, April though September. From that we have grown to Saturday classes and in 2014 hosted our first Evening in The Garden. Check our schedule for the 2015 programs. All programs are held on site at our garden pergola.

Our herb garden is open to the public to harvest any fresh herbs that are in season.

In 2014 The National Wildlife Federation certified this garden as a Certified Wildlife Habitat. This recognizes the garden for the establishment and maintenance of an official wildlife habitat.
